Does having an FM3 student visa for Mexico make me a resident?
I have an FM3 student visa good for my 5 years of grad school in Mexico. Does that make me a resident?

You are still a "non-immigrante." You must have an Fm3 visa for 5 years before you can apply for an Fm2...an "immigrante"visa. Then you are actually a legal resident , a step in preparing for citizenship...if desired. An FM2 is similar to a green card in the U.S. I believe you will find you need to renew that FM3 student visa every year at the nearest INM office. Check it for the expiration date. You need to go to the INM office about 2 to 3 weeks before the expiration date to file for renewal. When you arrive in Mexico, you must go , as soon as possible ( within a month at the most) to the nearest INM ofice and register your address. See site below, scroll down, choose the state you will be living in and click for the address of the INM office.

You are considered a "Temporary "Resident" for the duration of the 5 year period must re-new every year. At the end of the 5 year period you may apply for the F.M.2 and go through the same 5 year period, re-newable every year and the you are considered an "Imigrado" and will not be bothered by La Migra again.

How much would it cost for someone living in Mexico to get a student visa to go into the USA?
I have a relative living in Mexico and she wants to study in the US. She is wondering how much it would cost to get a student visa and how to apply for one. Can anyone help please?

Liberals are in charge, just come on up and enroll, I bet they give you double the PELL grant money just for being here.

trouble with giving a visa to a mexican is they never leave . my guess she will be waiting a very long time, if at all one becomes a available

you don't pay directly to get a visa, first of all she must apply at a university in the U.S. and if she's accepted the university or college will give you the documentation to apply for a student visa at her local U.S. consulate

Yahoo Answers is not your source for reliable information (you will get a lot of BS from people just for writing the word Mexico and Visa together) but it can give you some leads. That said, she needs to apply to the University/School first, once accepted the School will provide the necessary paperwork for your application at the nearest USA Embassy or Consulate. In order to get the Visa the applicant will have to prove that it can provide for himself/herself without any government aid. This is done mostly through an affidavit, evidence of source of income etc. (pretty much similar to get a regular Tourist Visa). NOW, the school may offer grants and scholarships to foreign students specially for Graduate Programs (Master, PhD) with a low application rates (e.g. Engineering / Science Programs). There are several other grants and scholarship from Non-Profit Organizations targeting foreign students (e.g.Fulbright Program). This applies to Foreign Students from any country!!!

Are you talking about buying a fake visa from some coyote or are you talking about applying for a real student visa like everyone else? I can't help you if your relative just want to buy a fake visa, but for a real student visa, you will have to do the following before you can apply: You need to take the TOFEL test and score a certain point(normally over 550), and you will need to apply to an accredited college/university and be accepted then you can pay a certain fee and fill out a form and bring both and your I-20 to the consolate and hopefully they would give you a student visa

Most schools are about $20 000 a year in tuition. Community colleges are much cheaper, maybe more to the order of $5000 a year. But it will depend on the specific school. She will need to be first accepted by the university of her choice and have to show that she has sufficient funds to pay for her education and living expenses.

what are things i should show a foreign exchange student from mexico?
im hosting a foreign exchange student and im wondering what types of thing should i show her that is different from mexico? she has never seen snow and we will me in michigan so she will see lots of snow. i would just like some other suggestions. thank you :)

What does a high school student from Mexico need to attend public school in The United States?
What exactly does a student from Mexico need to transfer to a high school in the States? A student visa? Some kind of student permit? Who would I contact to get more information about paperwork and other requirements?
