Why do the simpletons think the Southwestern US belongs to Mexico?

Why do the simpletons think the Southwestern US belongs to Mexico?
College students. You know who you are. Mexico held California for 22 years under a royal family and court, the USA has held it for 150 years. Mexico is a constutional government today, a totally different county from then. The Mexico that held California is extinct. Professors. Stop teaching your students that Arizona is racist for dealing with illegal immigation. Eat your refries, not paint with them. Which Mexico? The Monarchy or the current government?

Maybe because it belonged to Mexico first rather than longer.

Hope: In that case, Central Mexico belongs to the Aztecs. Give Germany to the Celts! Heck, let's bring back the Roman Empire! Or, even better than the Romans, let's restore the New Kingdom of Egypt. Give everything east of Turkey to the Mongols. Funny that you're also probably a person that wants to give the Arabs Palestine.
3 :
those idiots who want to give the southwest to mexico might as well give it to those indians. after all, we know how well they run their reservations
4 :
They have been taught "revisionist history" and have become too accustom to the "free stuff" we pay for in taxes. The illegals actually think they are entitled. It' a crazy world.
5 :
Well for starters, one state is named New Mexico. Kinda has their name on it.
6 :
Mexicans was in the US before it became the US long before whites came here.

3 natural laws that govern the ownership of land. 1. You discover it for yourself 2. You buy it 3. You take it Mexicans might have discovered it , bought it, or took the South Western area at one point.. But we took it last and have successfully held on to it since. End of story. The Natural Laws of Land Ownership will always exist for eternity.

After Spain left California, the Rancheros, (like Sepulveda,Pico,Dominguez etc) petitioned every country to sponsor them(France,England etc) They didn't want to be part of Mexico.(of course they dont tell you that) They were elated when California became part of the U.S.) ..by the way, Gold was found in the hills outside of Los Angeles way before Sutters Mill,By a guy picking wild onions(strange but true) they kept it hush because the Rancheros didn't want people flocking to the area in droves.
9 :
It doesn't belong to Mexico. It has an affinity to Mexico. That's why we have place names like Gaviota and La Jolla and not Nantucket or Ipswich, why we had taco, tostada and taquito lunches in elementary school and why, whether they love it or hate it, everyone knows what mariachi music is;-)

the brain drain from other countries except mexico?

the brain drain from other countries except mexico?
i was having dinner with a friend how just returned from Mexico City where he visited the exchange student that he hosting long ago as they have remained friends. as we discussed the current immigration issues, he stated that they educated people in mexico were staying and that their lives were quickly improving and corruption was being reduced. he mentioned that the immigrants from other countrys such as asia etc were the highly educated or skilled people who were coming to America and the assimilated but from mexico, we get the uneducated and unskilled. they are more a drain than an asset. this is another reason all who would come here do it legally so that we might build rather resources rather than use them for people who are not entitled to them.

At the risk of sounding like a "racist" black woman, it's pretty apparent to anyone who is paying attention that we aren't getting the best and brightest from south of the border. Not by a long shot.
2 :
I'm not sure what your question is. Some comments though: You seem to be suggesting that corruption has been reduced in Mexico because of the immigrants moving out. That might be, but I doubt that most of these people were in positions powerful enough to be a cause of corruption. I suspect things have gotten better because the people finally voted out the one-party government they had had for 70 years and put a new party in power. Uneducated and unskilled people are not a burden on society if they work hard. They are usually actually a benefit, because they often provide needed work very cheaply.

What we are getting from Mexico is more pain drain than brain drain. The Mexicans sneaking into America are mostly those who are failures at home and Mexico is glad to get rid of them. They are by definition criminals, and the statistic that worries me most about them is the fact that 95% of all outstanding murder warrants in Los Angeles are for people known to be illegal aliens. How many Americans have to be robbed, raped, and murdered before our government wakes up and guards our borders from the invading hordes?

We are definitely getting dumped on by Mexico while NAFTA gives them American jobs. How can we stay afloat this way?

canadian resident and F1 student can be claimed as depdendent?

canadian resident and F1 student can be claimed as depdendent?
The tax code is so complicated and here is one example. please help. My sister is a Canadian Permanent Resident but she is coming to US to study as F1 student. I will provide support for her but I am not sure if I can claim her as my dependent on the tax return. Here is what I got from IRS web site: "You cannot claim a person as a dependent unless that person is a U.S. citizen, U.S. *resident alien*, U.S. national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico" 1) F-1 students are generally treated as *nonresident* alien with the first 5 calendar years; However 2) my sister has been Canadian resident which seem to meet the citizenship test Since the paragraph says "or" - I guess my sister meets the resident of Canada category? There is no explanation or anything to define :resident of Canada". Any pointers to articles or IRS publishes or answers are appreciated.

As a resident of Canada, you can claim her if she's otherwise eligible. She will need an SSN or ITIN for you to claim her.
2 :
She would qualify as long as you provide more than half of her suppport. Residents of Canada and Mexico are specifically INCLUDED as being eligible dependents as long as they have a Tax ID #. (She needs an ITIN - Individual Tax ID Number)
3 :
You can claim her and depending on your income and any expenses you are paying for her schooling you may qualify for the lifetime learning credit or you could take the expenses as an adjustment.

tell me should they?

Then do what you want-and don't call for help from the US wasting taxpayers money when you get killed/robbed/raped whatever.
3 :
Well to those that want to take that risk go for it. I know I wouldn't,never will go there again.
4 :
my daughters in h.s. and they go for habitat for humanity i wont let her go this year but her school is still making the trip
5 :
It's really up to you, but Mexico is a dangerous place to be right now. I would recommend staying at a resort if you go and only take group trips if you venture out. Of course, it's up to you, you can live dangerously if you choose.
6 :
Absolutely, understand that Mexico is in a crisis right now. Even though many places such as Cabo, Cancun etc. are tourist destinations you have to understand the risk of visiting a foreign country where drug traffikers are kidnapping and killing people in order to further their ways. You could still go just be aware of surroundings and know where the nearest US Consulate is.
7 :
Drinking age is 18 in Mexico. unless an ocean front state drops there drinking age to 18 its not going to happen.
8 :
Depends where you go. Not ALL of Mexico is bad. There are thousands of Americans living in Mexico. Just do your research and stay out of trouble and the northern part of Mexico.
9 :
Listen to what you are being told. The government does not have to make up stories about the violence in Mexico as it is happening. The drug cartels are fighting amongst themselves and they don't care who gets caught in the crossfire. The major tourist areas are some of the worst for the drug wars but in particular Tijuana, Nuevo Loredo and Nogalas. Cancun and parts of Baja are also involved with this on going problem. Just returned from La Paz and it was basically a military camp with the federales and military all wearing masks to hide their identity. They too are fear full of the cartels.
10 :
Though we all should listen to the warnings and take heed of them, we also cannot let a lot of warnings stop us from living our lives. Go to Mexico, have fun, but stick with a group of people you know and don't do anything deliberately dangerous. Lol, oh yeah, and be careful of the water.
11 :
yes they should listen to the warnings. It is not worth the risk of being kidnapped and killed just to have a little fun. If you stay at a big resort you should just stay there the whole time and have fun there and this war will blow over soon enough so go back after it is over and have fun then.

If you want to keep your kidneys or be free of bullet holes. I would listen. It is so bad down there right now they are putting dead bodies in front of schools because they want the teachers to give them their bonus checks. But of course that is just along the border in the uncontrolled parts of mexico. About 2 miles from our schools on the border. I don't think it would be bad to go to a resort and stay. And yes they can just grab snorkel or rope and swim or climb right over the border. I wouldn't want to go there. But then again it all happens in America too. You can get shot for your shoes on the corner here also.
13 :
It's all relative. Border towns are notoriously dangerous as are tourist spots at night. It's like roaming around in Detroit at night - unsafe. There are plenty of places to Spring Break in America and just off the coast. I've been to Mexico, Hawaii and the Bahamas, but my fave place was always Ft Lauderdale until the city council cracked down and ruined it. Now I suggest daytona Beach to anyone who inquires of me.
14 :
I think everyone should listen to the warnings and decide themselves to go or not. If going, be very very careful!
15 :
Yes you should listen. But maybe you should hear my story so you know that this happens to real people. Three weeks ago my sisters best friend just left there a human duffel bag. She got up to use the restroom and never came back. She was found trying to be crossed the border with her hoodie, her body gutted and stuffed with drugs. this was 3 weeks ago on the cali. border. Please, we miss her so much! Do not let them go! Now the military staff is not allowed to go there, I have friends stationed in San Diego who have wanted to go but are not being allowed.

The warnings are for the BIRDER areas...these are NOT tourist destinations. Many people with absolutely NO knowledge of Mexico are exaggerating these warnings and claiming that all of Mexico is violent and that the drug cartels are interested in American tourists. Both of those things are completely untrue. Some of the stories people are telling ( even here n Answers are completely made up...there is no documentation for them at all. I am a single American woman living in Mexico ...and Know many others. There are thousands of Americans living in Mexico and I nave not heard of one who has been hurt. Stay out of border areas , stay sober, use your common sense...and you will be fine.
