Hello SuperCee: The former youth minister from our church is now in Oxaca Mexico. He and his family run a full-time ministry in the area, and host volunteers year round. Visit http://cten.org/cgi-bin/MissionaryList.cgi?section=&cat=North%20America%20(including%20Mexico)&rec=59 For information about the family, and visit http://www.globalfrontiermissions.com/oaxaca.html for more information on the Oxaca mission, and visit http://www.globalfrontiermissions.com/ for more information on how to volunteer. You might also visit the Habitat for Humanity website http://www.habitat.org/ and investigate their programs for building homes in Mexico & South America.

How safe is it in Cuernavaca, Mexico for American students?

How safe is it in Cuernavaca, Mexico for American students?
I am thinking about studying in Cuernavaca next summer and I was wondering how safe it is for American (particularly female) students? I would most likely be living with a family during my stay.

it's super safe because practically that whole town is tourism. wealthy and upper middle class mexicans travel there on the weekends to their second homes, many tourist go there to learn english....it's very quaint and safe.

IT IS VERY SAFE! Please click on these links: http://www.safety.uninter.edu.mx/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuernavaca I'm not sure where in the U.S. you live, BUT I HONESTLY FEEL MORE IN DANGER HERE IN THE U.S. THAN IN MEXICO. I've travel'd all over Mexico and I've never had a problem.

Be careful crossing the street. Your greatest danger is of being run over.

it's very safe, It's one of those places where you can find it beautiful to live in. it's spring time all year round

It is safe, as long as you don't stay in other houses than the one you are going to homestay, or being in unknown places too late or alone. Try to memorize where you live, in order not to get lost, as well bring a map of the area where you are gonna attend school and home. Also whenever you want to go out, be sure that someone will take you back home, better if the same family that you are going to stay. Have with you the phone number of the home your gonna stay, and try to learn before you arrive to mexico some basic phrases for getting directions being there. (in spanish) How can I get to____(school address)____? Como puedo llegar a _____ nombre de la escuela______? Could you tell me where is a public phone line? Podria decirme donde puedo encontrar un telefono publico? there are a lot of basic and free spanish courses online, for you to practice at least a little. google on "free courses spanish" Good luck and enjoy.

just go to Mexico and apply to any school
2 :
I don't understand, are you attending school? if not, then you can't be an exchange student.
3 :
Either apply to a school in Mexico or enter a school in the US and then apply through them to do a semester or year abroad as part of your degree there.
4 :
You can always go down there and study simply from being around normal fluent speakers. You need to go to college or some form of post 2ndary education to become an exchange student, if thats the title that you want. It's up to you t decide what you want to do with it.

Yes, I don't see why not. You'll probably have to pass an exam to make sure you know english. Pero no es nada que no puedas hacer, y te deseo mucha suerte por que en Harvard solo acceptan como 7% de la gente que applican para la universida.
