I think that you will need to go back to Russia. But you need to talk to your school's international students office for help. It is odd that your visa expired during your studies. Of course, you are now in the US illegally and you need to be very careful.

You can visit the American embassy in Canada or Mexico - it depends on what coast you're on, but there is an American embassy in Ottawa, Canada and one in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. This is where you normally have to renew your visa - I am of Romanian nationality, though an American citizen, but I have accompanied my Moldovan friends and boyfriend to Canada on more than one occasion so they could renew their F-1 student visas. Please keep in mind - if your visa is expired, there are many new laws recently passed by the USCIS and Department of State. They may deny your visa in Canada, and you will be unable to return to the U.S. Additionally, if you overstayed on your visa, and floated in the States as a non-status immigrant, you could be considered illegal and may have to return to Russia and apply for the visa there. Usually you only have to return to your home country if you are CHANGING your status, not renewing it, but I don't understand how you have student status until 2012 but your visa expired? You may have initially only been approved for student status until 2012, dependent on your proposed graduation time, but that doesn't promise that your visa will be good until that time. Honestly, if I were you, I would speak with an immigration attorney and get a consultation. You don't want to leave the country and find yourself stranded in Canada or Mexico, or in a situation where you might have to return home.

An F-1 visa allows you to enter the country. As long as you are maintaining your student status you are legal. Don't leave the country or you will have to get a new visa. Talk to your foreign student office(or whatever it is called at your school) and make sure you are still in status. Good Luck!

How to get a student Visa?

How to get a student Visa?
I am currently residing in the USA illegally since I was brought by my parents as a very young child and I'm attending a county college. I wanted to know if it was possible to return to Mexico and apply for a student visa since I have already been accepted into the college or if I might be able to do it from here. Thanks for any information or personal experience on the subject, it's very much appreciated!

You can't do it from here because you are illegally in the USA. If you leave the USA you'll face a 10 year ban on returning due to the fact that you lived in the USA more than a year as an illegal alien.
2 :
If you are under 18.5 you may just be able to do that you must return to you home country and apply from there

You can't get a student visa while you are here illegally, you have to apply from Mexico. If you have lived here illegally as an adult, you will get a 10 year ban when you apply for a visa. Once you turned 18,your illegal status became your responsibility, you can no longer use your parents as an excuse for living here illegally. Once your ban is over and you can prove you are able to pay international student tuition, you may be able to come back.

assuming you're over 18 1/2 Yak Rider is right. even if you're under that, Dave is probably wrong. if you've been living in the US most of your life, your chances of getting a student visa back home in Mexico are pretty poor. You don't really have any ties to Mexico at this point and you'll almost certainly be turned down for a student visa or a tourist visa.

What are typical Christmas gifts given to a child in Mexico?

What are typical Christmas gifts given to a child in Mexico?
I am teaching a group of students a lesson on Christmas in Mexico. From what I have read about Christmas in Mexico, Christmas is still really celebrating Christ's birth! I love that! In the United States, so much emphasis is given to gift-giving from Santa. Do children in Mexico expect lots of gifts like in the USA? Are the gifts big and elaborate or small and meaningful?

I have family that lives in Mexico....Actually, the schools there give out a lunch sack filled with apples, oranges, and nuts to each child. Also, when I moved to texas 5 miles away from the Mexico border I was in High School and our school in the United States did this same thing...I guess fruit baskets are a common gift in Mexico.

no way.

Why would the Mexican government care about a visa to enter the USA? Mexico isn't a state of the USA, it's an independent country. You must meet Mexico's visa requirements to enter Mexico.

i wen t in 2009 with out a visa they give me a hard time coming back but if you are white maybe you wont have a hard time try it and see.

Holders of a valid visa for the United States are exempt from the Mexican visa requirement for a tourist stay of up to 180 days since 2010. ■—■—■ Added: cool to see thumps down by idiots although the answer is backed up by trustful web sites!
